The unexamined life is not worth living. That’s what Socrates thought a few thousand years ago.And he makes a big point today for couples in love. Only when you KNOW YOURSELF can you truly love another.

We’ve seen the world, but we still feel the need for more
Here I am, in the old wonderful Germany. The streets are full of well dressed Europeans and beer sales. Even thought I tend to call “home” the nice little house my parents bought a year ago, on the other side of the Pacific ocean, I still feel like my place is somewhere in Europe. Germany has always been a mystery. I knew the language, but that was it. I knew, or thought, that Germans all had this unique smell that I had grown up with, and that my cousin, who lives in a beautiful small town near Essen, brought with him every time he used to visit. The moment I landed in Dusseldorf I smiled like a child because I was, again, surrounded by that smell. I couldn’t describe it, but it makes me feel at home, makes me feel secure. Germans seem to have a unique life style. Like most Europeans, they take the time to enjoy those little moments that we purposely avoid in North America. Just today, I was walking from “Rossman” to my uncle’s apartment, a nice little place on the main street, surrounded by coffee shops and very expensive boutiques, when I found myself analyzing these fancy ladies walking by. They are always very elegant and seem proud and courageous. As for the German men, I cannot think of any negative features. The European style suites them perfectly. The way they walk, the way they dress and the way they speak contribute to their charm. I did discover a lot of new places, but what really stays with me are the little moments … Surely the European in me came out once again, and cries for more. In 48 hours I will be on an Air Canada plane, heading back home and I will for sure look through that tiny window and realize once again, how much I love my old continent and make the promise that one day, soon, I’ll come back for good.
Thank you my lovely Europe, you’ve been amazing once again.
